How far back can you trace your ancestors? As the League finds out more about their families' past, their present starts making a lot more sense.
In partnership with the Charlestown Maroons of Jamaica, we developed a series of stories targeting kids and kids at heart that tell a magical tale including forgotten Caribbean indigenous mythology. Part proceeds of the sale of the comic are contributed to a Development Fund for the Maroons.
We salute Colonel Frank Lumsden (1942-2015) whose vision was instrumental in this partnership.
Have you ever visited a Maroon village? There are 4 in Jamaica and more across the Western world from Canada to South America. Connect with your roots in a new exciting way by meeting present day Maroons in Accompong, Scott's Hall, Moore Town and Charlestown in Jamaica.
And look around you- many of us, like members of the League of Maroons, may not know we are generations apart but true descendants of these remarkable freedom fighters.
We get asked a lot about our process. Here's an example of our stages of creation: 1st we sketch and pencil the characters on paper. Then we scan and ink them digitally. After that it's shading and highlighting the characters and backgrounds.
